Throughout February, we are working with Pepper & Mint’s Boutique to create a brand new visual identity and website for the vintage jewelery store. The first step has been to create two mascot characters and logo design for the brand, which will go on to be used as the central theme for the company’s branding as the project develops.

Working closely with the jewelery designer’s ideas, our illustrator Stina Jones, created the above character designs — a girl named Pepper, with her pet bird named Mint.

The illustrations were then placed into the logo design, which we will go on to be used across all of their online and printed media as we continue to work with Pepper & Mint’s over the coming months

Access to Music, the UK’s leading popular music college, approached Creative Elements in 2010 looking to commission artwork to be used on the CD packaging for Atom Sounds 2, which features a compilation of the tracks that the students had produced as part of their course.

We were briefed to base the artwork around some bespoke monster characters, with an urban edge.

Our Illustrator, Stina Jones, started off by developing the individual characters through hand drawn sketches. Out of the 12 original rough concepts, the client chose 5 of them to be developed into digital illustrations, before laying them out in Photoshop.

The result was a grungy illustrated CD cover with the character designs as the central element.

This was a really enjoyable project overall and we’re delighted to have had the opportunity to work with Access to Music on this project.
Local market research company, Accelerate Associates, commissioned us to create a typographic artwork to accompany their national press release. Working with a list of key words provided by the client, we pieced together the words to form the above image.

As the company’s branding is very clean cut and minimal – the artwork needed to reflect this style and be unfussy, keep within the brand colours and only use the 2 fonts within the brand guidelines.

The work was well recieved by the client and they are continuing to use the image across all sorts of printed media to accompany their PR and Marketing documents.

Working closely with the website designer, Marc Remblance of First Base Design, Creative Elements was brought in to create a unique character to be used as a mascot for the brand. The character needed to be contemporary and convey a warm, friendly personality to reflect the ethos of the site.

After liaising with the client and the front end design team, we threw all of our ideas into a pot and came up with a series of sketches, which were tweaked and developed into the finished digital illustration which you can see on the site today.

We also provided Poie.co.uk with a series of images which have their mascot in different poses, so they could be used within other areas of the site as it grows.

We always enjoy teaming up with digital designers on projects such as this – both Marc Remblance and the development team at Cobuso have been a delight to work with.

The English Costume Company is the new trading name for the internationally renowned, Staffordshire based dressmakers, who specialise in creating stunning 18th Century garments.

Creative Elements were hired to assist with the rebrand by designing a new logo. The brief was to design some unique calligraphic lettering, with a hand drawn feel.

Working closely with the client’s ideas, the lettering was hand drawn to the requirements before being reproduced digitally. The result (featured above) was a unique vintage typeface, ready to use across all of their branded media.

Client: Boomerang PR

Cheshire’s very own digital PR and social media agency, Boomerang recently launched a brand new website as part of its ongoing expansion.

The brief was simple. They wanted to create something that reflected our the company ethos – to have fun and put passion into everything they do. Taking inspiration from the existing icon – the Boomerang bird – and working closely with the Boomerang team, we were in charge of illustration and came up with the original web headers and footers for the new Boomerang design. The result? A really fresh, funky and fun loving new website that beautifully achieves the initial brief.

Each page within the website had something unique to illustrate the section. For example, the Contact page had little characters talking into tin cans on strings while the Services page had a garden with characters planting flowers and seeds to grow.

The project was great fun to work on. It was a case of collaborating with the team and throwing all of our ideas into the pot and coming up with something that original and quirky for each page, without losing the original branding.

You can check out the finished result at www.boomerangpr.com

Whatever It Takes is a unique artwork campaign launched by 21st Century Leaders Foundation. Over 660 leaders in the fields of royalty, fashion, film, music and sport, have donated their unique artworks and messages of hope for the future, to join Whatever It Takes.

These artworks are then used to create unique lifestyle products, from mugs and ceramics, to iPhone shells and t-shirts. The sale of Whatever It Takes products have raised over $4,000,000 for 21st Century Leaders Ltd, which donates its net proceeds to charitable projects, including those nominated by the celebrity artists.

To aid the charity in it’s promotion of the products, Creative Elements were brought in to put together a 60 page catalogue for the products.

The catalogue branding had to adhere to the pre-defined brand guidelines using bright, pop colours on a black background, while keeping the products as the main focus of the pages.

The result was a fun, colourful, yet clean cut design that didn’t distract from the look and feel of the individual products.

The 21st Century Leaders Foundation’s mission is to assist and encourage a generation of influencers to raise awareness and funds for international development causes and positive environmentally sustainable development. The Foundation approached Creative Elements looking for 6 weeks of Graphic Design support for the annual Awards Ceremony and Art Exhibition hosted at The Grand Hyatt Hotel, Qatar.

The 21st Century Leaders Award is presented to individuals who have used their influence and notoriety to raise awareness, funds and make positive policy changes to progress either environmental or humanitarian concerns.

With most of the team based overseas, it was imperative that the design work was produced quickly and often within tight deadlines. Responsibility was given to Creative Elements to give ongoing graphic design support, source image licences and liaise with the team to get the artworks and publications approved quickly for printing and web publishing.

Creative Elements assisted the event by designing the following; 10 Page Auction Brochure, 35 Page eBrochure, an online Booking Form, Stage Backdrop and Banners, 4 x Sets of Business Cards, 3 x Gold Plated Post Card Mock ups, Web Graphics, Step and Repeat (Logo Wall) and graphic layouts for Videos. The award ceremony went on to be a great success and we feel honoured to have been a part of such a fantastic event.

Creative Boom Magazine launched ‘Social Booms’ back in 2010 – local networking events across the UK where freelancers, entrepreneurs and businesses can meet up, have a drink and hopefully share, collaborate and win new business. The first was launched right here in Stoke-on-Trent and the Creative Elements design studio helped to promote the debut event.

The design needed to be eye catching, yet flexible enough so that the team could add their own event details depending on the area in which the event was to be held. The solution was to create a design that utilised blank space to give the event organisers the flexibility to add as much or as little text as they liked.

The result was the above ePoster artwork that we created using a basic collage of stock images, hand drawn doodles and Photoshop brushes to give the event branding an arty, hand made feel.
